What did it take to become the first South Asian female commercial dancer in North America to tour and work with some of the world’s biggest artists (such as @madonna @justinbieber @ricky_martin & @arrahman to name a few) and to star in @theacademy award-winning films like @lalaland? Over the next two episodes, we have the incredible @reshmagajjar ‘in the house’. The Los Angeles-based dancer and actress shares her insights, experiences and thought processes on what helped her breakthrough and navigate a career in the world of commercial dance in a time when there was no South Asian visibility in the field. In Part 1 (this Sunday, April 21st), Reshma shares what it took to convince her #immigrantparents to support her on pursuing a dance career when they didn’t see a viable path, whether or not studying dance in college/university is helpful in starting a career in commercial dance, why getting “burnt out” was one of the best things that could have happened to her, trusting in #divinetiming, the value of reconnecting with your roots/motherland and the importance of giving back to your community.
